Temporary barriers were in place yesterday at a construction project along the South Shore.

The plastic partitions could be see along South Shore Road, near Watch Hill Park, in Smith’s.

The appearance of the about three-feet-high barriers came on the same day The Royal Gazette published photographs showing exposed rods along the southern side of the road. They were uncovered after a railing and sidewalk were removed by the Department of Public Works’ highway division in September.

The Royal Gazette understands that the railing was removed because of safety concerns after it rotted.

Questions about the project — including the anticipated completion date and cost — sent to a government spokeswoman on Tuesday had not been responded to by press time yesterday.
