Traffic was diverted this morning after a car hit a utility pole on South Road in Warwick.

The single-vehicle crash happened near Southlands at about 3.45am, police said.

It was understood the driver, who was the only person in the car, was not seriously injured.

A police spokesman said: “Belco personnel are on scene to repair the downed utility pole and traffic diversions are in effect in the area until further notice.

“The repair work is expected to take several hours and motorists are advised to take alternate routes if possible.”

Witnesses were asked to call police on 295-0011.
