A man who struck another motorist in Pembroke has incurred a $1,000 fine in Magistrates’ Court.
Sinclair Simmons, 74, admitted driving his car without due care and attention when he appeared in court yesterday.
Simmons, from Devonshire, was initially charged in September 2023 with causing Lavon Seymour grievous bodily harm by driving, which he denied.
However, yesterday he pleaded guilty to a lesser offence.
The court heard that Simmons struck Mr Seymour, who was on a bike, while turning from Marsh Folly Road on to Blackwatch Pass on August 18, 2022.
Police reported that Mr Seymour was treated in hospital for a suspected head injury.
Simmons apologised in court to Mr Seymour and had ten points added to his licence in addition to the fine.
