A person suffered serious injuries in an incident involving a horse and carriage this afternoon.

The accident happened in the area of Brighton Hill Road in Devonshire about 3.20pm and road diversions are in operation.

A police spokesman said details were limited, but that it appeared the casualty was “seriously injured”.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area while a police investigation is carried out.
