The trial of magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo, who has denied a charge that he refused a breath test, was adjourned yesterday until after the weekend.

Magistrates’ Court earlier heard that the 64-year-old was arrested after police were called to a crash near the public entrance to Elbow Beach, where they found his car “completely off the road” and over an embankment on January 19. Mr Tokunbo, from Warwick, said at the scene that he was not the driver, the court heard this week.

No witnesses to the incident were called to give evidence yesterday.

Cayman Islands magistrate Valdis Foldats heard legal arguments from Mark Diel, for the Crown, and Charles Richardson, for the defence.

The trial continues and the case was scheduled to call again on Monday.
