Bermuda’s young people are setting an example in road safety with an art exhibition that opens this evening.

Students from across the island submitted artwork promoting safety on our roads as part of the Draw 4 Change competition launched by Rubis Energy Bermuda and the Bermuda Road Safety Council.

The exhibition, supported by The Royal Gazette’s Drive for Change campaign, will be open to the public at the Bermuda Society of Arts at City Hall from Saturday. There are 175 piece of artwork from primary and middle schools, and they will all be entered into a competition.

The winners will be announced in early September and their artwork will be published in The Royal Gazette.

The competition was launched in April at a press conference by Dennis Lister III, the chairman of the Bermuda Road Safety Council, and Jermaine Simons, sales manager for Rubis and its Fuelling 4 a Cause programme.

Mr Simons said: “We are extremely grateful for the excitement and interest by the students, their parents, art teachers and schools behind this safety awareness campaign. It is amazing that our future road users displayed such an exemplary standard in a number of pieces.

“There are examples of a high level of detail, creativity and most important, the delivery of key messages that clearly communicate what road safety means to our children, and us. We encourage everyone to pop by.”

BSoA is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

The Draw 4 Change exhibition will run until August 6.
