A man has been arrested after a collision in Warwick left a woman in hospital with facial injuries.

A police spokesman said officers received a report of a motorcycle striking a pedestrian near the junction of Middle Road and Sleepy Hollow Lane at around 11pm on Saturday.

The spokesman said: “It appears that the motorcyclist, said to be a 46-year-old Southampton man, was traveling west on Middle Road and the pedestrian, said to be a 44-year-old Warwick woman, was walking in the same direction at the time.

“Apparently the rider was not hurt and the female pedestrian was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening leg and facial injuries.”

The rider was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and alter released on police bail.

Police are also investigating a crash that took place early Saturday morning at the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Southampton.

The police spokesman said officers were flagged down by a motorist who saw a motorcycle on the ground in the nearby bus layby with its lights on.

The spokesman said: “It appears that the rider, said to be a 40-year-old Sandys parish man, was traveling west along Middle Road when he struck a wooden barrier near Barnes Corner and was thrown into the surrounding bushes.

“Officers assisted the rider out of the bushes and he was then transported to KEMH by ambulance for treatment of facial injuries.”

The spokesman said that as of last night, the man had been admitted and was still receiving medical care.

Meanwhile a 49-year-old Sandys woman who was injured in a three-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon in Devonshire has been released from KEMH.

The woman had been on a motorcycle when the collision – which involved also involved two cars – happened near the junction of Devon Spring Road and South Road.

The spokesman said “One of the car drivers involved, said to be a 93-year-old Hamilton parish man, was transported to KEMH by ambulance for medical assessment.

“The other car driver, said to be a 31-year-old Hamilton parish man, was apparently unhurt.

“All three vehicles were damaged.”
