A drink driver was banned from the roads for 18 months and fined yesterday after he crashed his car.

Kenneth Young, 22, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty at Magistrates’ Court to the offence.

The court heard that police officers were called to Parsons Road in Pembroke and found Young on the side of the road with a damaged car.

Young told the officers: “I lost control and I crashed into the tree.”

He admitted he had been drinking and was arrested.

A later breath test showed he had 143 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.

The incident happened on June 26.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Young $1,500 in addition to the road ban.
