A woman was briefly trapped in a van this morning (Feb 15, 2018) in Smith’s after the vehicle flipped, according to the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokeswoman said that a vehicle with four personnel responded at about 10.40am, attending a report of a single overturned vehicle on Salt Sea Drive.

The team righted the vehicle and extricated the driver, who was then taken to the hospital by ambulance for assessment.

Meanwhile, police issued an update on a two-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 8am yesterday on Middle Road, Southampton.

A spokesman said: “It appears that a car was travelling in an easterly direction along Middle Road near Five Star Island and a van was travelling in the opposite direction and one of the vehicles crossed the yellow line, resulting in a collision.

“Both drivers of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with injures, one with arm and upper body injures and the other driver received arm and head injuries. None of the injuries appear to be live threatening and both vehicles were extensively damaged.”

The crash is under investigation, and any witnesses are asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011
