An elderly woman and a child were hurt after two cars were in collision yesterday.

A police spokesman said the crash happened at about 8.10am on Middle Road in Warwick, near the junction with St Mary’s Road.

The spokesman said: “It appears that one car was being driven east on Middle Road and another car was being driven out of St Mary’s Road to head west on Middle Road when the vehicles collided.

“The driver of the westbound car, an 81-year-old Warwick woman as well as her passenger, a 6-year-old boy, were injured.”

The two were taken by ambulance to the King Edward VII Hospital for treatment.

The 6-year-old was treated for facial injuries and released, but the senior suffered a neck injury and was admitted to the hospital.

The spokesman added that the driver of the eastbound car, a 28-year-old Warwick man, was uninjured.

Both cars were damaged in the crash, and traffic was delayed for about an hour.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
