Police have identified the 39-year-old man who became the second road fatality of the year after a crash on Friday.

Shannon-Hugh Davis, from Hamilton Parish, died after his bike and another were in collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish.

A police spokesman said that Mr Davis suffered serious injuries when his motorcycle struck an oncoming motorcycle between Trinity Church Road and Panorama Drive at about 6.40pm.

The spokesman said: “Mr Davis was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but sadly later pronounced dead.”

He added a family liaison officer had been assigned to the family.

The rider of the other motorcycle, a 38-year-old Devonshire man, was also injured and taken to the hospital.

The spokesman added: “He was then arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and subsequently given police bail pending further inquiries.

“At last check the 38-year-old was apparently recovering on a general ward.”

The spokesman added that a car was also struck by the 38-year-old man’s bike, but the occupants were uninjured.

The area was closed to traffic for about four hours as officers examined the crash scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
