A bus with children on board was rear-ended by a truck yesterday, with no injuries reported.

An eyewitness said the boom on top of the truck smashed the back window of the bus, which had been westbound on South Road, Smith’s, near the junction with Collector’s Hill.

A spokesman said police responded to a damage-only collision at about 2.30pm. He added: “It appears that a Department of Public Transportation bus was already parked in the area and a heavy truck with a mounted crane attachment was in the process of parking near by, when the heavy truck’s crane attachment made contact with the rear window of the bus, damaging it.”

Any witnesses are asked to call the main police telephone number at 295-0011.
