A motorcyclist was banned from the roads for 18 months yesterday and fined after he admitted being involved in a collision while more than double the legal alcohol limit.
Carlos Anselmo, 53, from Southampton, pleaded guilty at Magistrates Court to drink-driving and driving without a licence.
The court heard that Anselmos motorbike collided with another bike on Tribe Road 3 in Southampton.
Police attended and suspected Anselmo had been drinking.
He was taken to Hamilton Police Station for a breath test.
Anselmo registered 177 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.
Officers also found that Anselmo did not have a valid drivers licence.
The incident occurred on May 27.
Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe also fined Anselmo $1,000 on the drink-driving charge and $200 for driving without a licence.
