A 32-year-old woman who led police on a motorcycle chase through Hamilton was banned from the road for 12 months and fined for refusal to take a breath test.

Magistrates’ Court heard how Samantha Hill missed collisions with a taxi and a wall and drove on the wrong side of the road as police chased her.

Hill, of Devonshire, was pulled over near the parish’s Upland Street.

She was questioned by police and asked if she had been drinking.

She said: “What are you stopping me for? Yes, but I’m refusing to take the test.

“You’re kidding, I live right there I can drive home.”

Police arrested her on suspicion of drink driving and she later refused to give a sample of breath for testing.

The incident happened about 12.15am on June 18.

Hill denied in court she had been driving under the influence but admitted refusal of a breath test.

She added: “I made a mistake”.

In addition to the ban, Hill was fined $800.
