A man who fell asleep at a set of traffic lights was later found to be more than three times above the drink driving limit, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.

Police investigated after they saw a car stationary at lights on Court Street that had not moved through several green lights.

Officers found Shondell Easton, 39, asleep at the wheel with the car engine running.

Police woke Easton and arrested him on suspicion of driving while impaired.

A breath test showed that Easton had 245 milligrams of alcohol in 80 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.

The incident happened in the early hours of February 23.

Easton, from Warwick, pleaded guilty to failure of a breath test.
