A man escaped injury when his car hit a wall and flipped in Sandys yesterday.

The 58-year-old driver, of the same parish, was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed on Somerset Road near the junction with Cambridge Road.

Police said it appeared that the car was travelling west when it hit a wall and overturned near the MarketPlace at about 2.50pm.

A spokesman added that the man went to hospital as a precaution.

Traffic was delayed in the area for about an hour until the damaged car was towed away.

Witnesses were asked to call police on 295-0011.

The police spokesman also said that a 17-year-old male who was hurt in a jet ski crash this week was in a stable condition this morning at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Inquiries continued into the incident, which happened at about 6pm on Tuesday near Robinson’s Marina at Somerset Bridge, and witnesses were asked to call Constable Joshua Boden at the Marine Unit on 247-1770.

A 47-year-old motorcycle rider was also stable in the ICU today after he was seriously hurt in a single vehicle crash on Store Hill, Smith’s, at about 8.55pm on Monday.

Anyone with information was asked to call Constable Gregory Stienlet on 295-0011.
